This is a little bit of a different round up today. While I do want to show you some cool things I found for the Earth Day theme I also want us to keep in mind what the purpose of this day is all about: Being mindful of your carbon footprint and getting outside to appreciate our great Mother Earth. So in conjunction with some steals from around the web I've done a small round up of some eco/earth friendly projects for you to tackle this weekend to celebrate Earth Day!
Although lamps and chandeliers have their practical purposes, I’m sure I’m not the only one who insists on having a lamp inside of a room that already comes with about three or four different light sources. And will you ever need that much light at once? Maybe not, but when you are looking to accent your home a bit, don’t underestimate the power of lamps and other lighting options - they make great accessories and really add to the overall design of your home. This may seem like a given, but when purchasing a lamp, choose one that has a shape, size, and color that compliments the design of your home. Avoid the temptation to purchase a lamp that can match pretty much any color scheme or design; choose one that really pops. Note: Also be careful not to go overboard or clash with the colors you have going on in your home. If there is already a lot of pop and flair going on in one particular room, you may be better off with a neutral-colored lamp.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way: I hate carpet. An area rug here and there is one thing, but wall-to-wall carpet throughout the home (with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom, of course) has really started to drive me crazy. Our last place had hardwood floors, and I miss them dearly. We have already made a vow to never move into a place again with carpet. In the meantime, though, I just need to make the best of it and try to make it look as nice as I possibly can.
I often find myself day-dreaming about different looks for my apartment, recently I went through an organic, linen, wicker, and white phase. I love that combo, but when I began looking for wicker I found it to be quite pricey. I began looking for alternative's one of which is rattan. What is rattan you ask?
Sure we all love decorating, but even more I love being healthy in my own home, especially with small space living air can quickly get stale. As a person prone to sinus infections, allergies and random sneeze attacks I thought this would be a fun new item to try.
