Several of this weeks posts have been about my trip to the W Hotel in Dallas for The Weekender Dallas Event. The first being my fabulous night at the red carpet party and the second being about the fun I had shopping on Saturday.
Why is it so much easier to pull color from food images? Or is that just my inner hungry girl justifying looking at pictures of donuts and cakes in the morning? I found this picture on pinterest with led me to its recipe on Heather Cristo Cooks. Maybe I'm just hoping that one day I'll actually attempt some of the recipes that I've pinned and blogged about. Last night I attempted to make one recipe I found on pinterest, it happened to be a DIY version of Frosty Paws ice cream. Wouldn't you know, I didn't have one of the ingredients. So it's sitting uncompleted in my refrigerator to be completed tonight.
I picked out my first bed frame when I first moved out of college. It was a black iron frame with a scrolled headboard and foot board. I still have it today, six years later and it's been in as many moves. The bed frame has been very versatile with all the different kinds of decor that I've gone through. However, I still remember when I was picking the frame out that I almost went in a completely different direction. There was this one bed in the showroom that had a white frame with a wicker headboard, and I lurved it. Somehow, my mother managed to talk me out of it and convince me that I would have tired of it. Maybe she would have been right, but maybe not. Since then, I have had a long-standing personal lust for more wicker in my life ever since. So, when I stumbled across a website called The Family Love Tree, that sells mostly wicker furniture, I was so pumped to share some of their pieces with you!
Summer is rapidly approaching and I'm eager to get my patio set up and functioning. All I brought with me in the move was a green chair that I redid last summer and it was pretty sad sitting out on the patio all by itself this spring.
There are so many different types of furniture out there it's hard to keep them all straight. I have found myself recently drawn to vintage furniture and I thought it would be fun to educate us all on a special type of love seat called the settee. I love the way they look so sweet and have that whimsical romantic charm about them. I feel like Marie Antoinette could walk in at any minute and tell me a story. So what is a settee?
Without a doubt, choosing colors for furniture can be a particularly daunting task for many people. As the colors that you choose will most likely be in your home for a considerably long time, it is sometimes important to keep this point in mind during the buying process. Further, it is important to remember that the color of furniture often sets the tone for the rest of the room.
Coming from a person who loves to curl up like a cat with a blanket, a fireplace and the latest best seller (Currently I'm reading The Happiness Project! Shout out to Gretchen Rubin!). How do you go from chair in the corner to cozy comfy reading nook?
Here's a fun fact: the first recorded use of the word Pumpkin as a color name in English was in 1922. When you really get to thinking about colors, especially in the realm of paint chip swatches, you hear things like papaya whip and shell brook and poisoned apple. Crazy how people come up with these names and call them colors.
