Is it just me or do kitchens always seem to be almost perfect, but not quite? There's that one thing that makes you think, "Hmmm, what can I do here?" Thinking about my latest apartment, built in 1945 btdubs, I had absolutely ZERO counter space. I mean, zilch. About a foot on either side of the sink WAS IT! I had three doors, and a totally awesome pull down ironing board, but nowhere to hold all of my fabulous stuff! I wish I had thought of THIS! Gaaah, hindsight is 20/20.
Is this straight out of a repurposed dream? I think YES!
Everyone has done the leaning bookcase, 'cause it's totally cool and useful, but what about the leaning ladder?? And what about using it for your kitchen towels? Your cookbooks. And Pinterest print outs. Even your kitchen utensils!
Me + Zhowie = Awesome sauce. Am I right, or am I right?
And what if we got really crazy, and took our measuring cups and spoons and put a d-ring through them, and CLIPPED THEM ON THE LADDER? You guys, I just got chills.
Sidebar - are these not the absolute cutest kitchen utensils EVER? I need them in my life.
And why stop there? Picture it, your spices in adorable plastic jars neatly tucked on a shelf that is also a mirror, reflecting your space and making it appear bigger? Aaaand also giving you a peek so you can re-do that lipstick before the doorbell rings!
The Daws mirrors, in all of their colorful glory make the best multi-use wall mounts! And it was so easy! All I did was get some generic little spice bowls at The Container Store and filled them with my favorite spices. (Basil, Oregano, Black Pepper, Crushed Red Pepper, and Adobo if you must know.) Next time I'm going to label them because I'm a labeler. Seriously, you should see my bubble at work. Even the stapler's spot on the desk is labeled. I'm not kidding. I hate clutter, and that's another reason this awesome kitchen redux is so great!
Not only is this crazy-awesome functional, it's crazy-awesome GORGEOUS!
Seriously, ya'll. I am so bummed this idea did not pop into my head six months ago. Or ya know, three years ago. I could have had three years of organized bliss instead of tears and temper tantrums.
I heart spooning. And stirring. And seasoning. And tasting. And stirring...
I cannot wait to move into my new place and run wild with this idea. 'Cause we know my new kitchen still won't be perfect. But at least now I'm coming in guns blazing. And all kinds of goose-pimply. I am really loving this idea. And I hope you guys love it too. In fact, send us your pics when you interpret this into your kitchen – 'cause you might have ample counter space, but what about cabinets? Shelves? Could you work your stemware into this concept? Cogs turning, cobwebs splintering…..I might have to do a 2nd and then a 3rd… post on this!!!!
Cogs still turning, I will definitely get back to ya'll soon!
